So, here's the dilemma...see how this beautiful return air vent accentuates my wonderfully re-purposed pocket door headboard? Yeah, not so much. I hate that vent, DESPISE it, but have never quite found a solution for it.
But then, while flipping through the PB catalog I saw THIS:

PERFECT!!!!! CHEAP!!!!!!! YAY!!!!!!!
So, I headed to the dollar store where I purchased a ball of sisal, and I got busy. I had these gorgeous knobs I got at the Restore for .25 a PIECE and it all came together quite smashingly.

Of course, I had to make a trip to my moms for the photos, but in typical fashion, she had PLENTY to go around...
So, TAKE THAT pottery barn. This is my way to stick it to the man for all those pretties you put in your catalog and won't let us buy! (Not that we'd buy it anyway, we're far more likely to figure out cheaper ways to make it ourselves ;o)
Now I realize that mine is not nearly as overflowing with pics at the PB one, but I figure I can add to it as I come across more photos I love. And as long as I don't have to look at that dumb vent anymore, I'm happy :)
Really cute! I love a knockoff.
ReplyDeleteThis is great! I love {borrowing} from Pottery Barn too! ~Marcy
ReplyDeleteClever idea! Looks super cute.
ReplyDeleteDid you use original photos or make copies? I'd be concerned about the heat from the vent damaging original photos.
What a fab idea!!! It looks awesome!

ReplyDeleteI hate it when they do that too! Durn PB! This turned out very cute!! Love it!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea! Perhaps I should try this with a badly placed phone outlet in my kitchen...

Such a great idea! I have a thermostat in the middle of my living room wall. Whoever thought that was a good idea?!
ReplyDeleteCool idea! What's Restore? Is that one of those resale shops in Rockford that I've heard about? Lemme know where it is, because I've been wanting to go.
ReplyDeleteHey, I wonder if when the vent turns on... are those pictures going to start blowing around and driving you nuts at night? Hee hee, leave it to me to think of something stupid like that.
So cute! I have something similar in our back hallway that I hang all my kiddos art work from school on!
ReplyDeleteThat looks great! I love how the photo's all mean something to you. That is really neat.
ReplyDeleteThanks.
Brooke

Can you paint the vent the same color as the wall to help it blend in a little better behind the photos?
