For today's $ store craft, I decided to re-do this plaque. I've seen these re-painted on a million different blogs, and I totally get it I mean come ON $ tree, what is UP with the caution tape yellow sides?!??!?! But I didn't buy it for that. I bought it for THIS:
Yep, the back of it. And why you might ask? Because of these GLORIOUS napkins that I found at (yep, you guessed it) a $ store.
When I look out my window the only colors I see is white snow and brown mud. So when I saw these napkins I KNEW I needed to have them in a place where I could look at them. What says spring cheeriness better than tulips?!?!?!?!?
Anywho...I got busy with my modge podge. Soap Box time people....I've been decoupaging for years, and I'm ashamed to admit it but it wasn't until today that I tried the ACTUAL modge podge brand. OH MY WORD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What a difference it made! I may be a cheapskate, but I will NEVER waste another penny on that generic crap I was using before!
Here's the finished project, and I L-O-V-E IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That black and white background is SOOOOOOOOOOO me, and those flowers AHHHHHHH...I love the $ store, love love love it!
A very unusual and beautiful napkin. you've turned it inot a work of art! I've bought several metal signs with the intention of spray painting over them and redesigning them...haven't gotten there yet though. Yes, I'm "cyber-stalking" you! :) I don't want to miss a single $Store CrafT!!

Is the background part of the napkin or a seperate piece of paper? It looks like the Shimmer Damask paper from A Muse Artstamps! So pretty!
ReplyDeleteNope, its part of the napkin, I don't think I've ever found such a pretty napkin before!!!! lol :)
ReplyDeleteAre you kidding me? A napkin! Sah-Wheat!(That's me saying SWEET with a lot of emphasis)
ReplyDeleteVisiting from Lindsay's linky party! :)
I have never used Mod Podge. Did you use a clear sealant on this when the Mod Podge was dry? Does it dry tacky?
ReplyDeleteThanks for the wonderful idea!
Jill,
ReplyDeleteActually the Modge Podge is kind of its own sealant. It dries, clear, and hard, almost like a coat of varnish. I HIGHLY recommend the brand name Modge Podge...works great!!!!! :)
wow! i love this one too!
