Hump day the Dollar store way.........

Today, I'm gonna be makin' some magic with these:

It started with the candle holder, as I mentioned previously, we're in the midst of fertility treatments so the theme of my year is "hope"...so as soon as I saw the candle holder, I knew it must be incorporated! Then, I found the frame and I liked it because the frame itself is about an inch thick, but the glass is all the way at the back and I thought the recessed frame would give the cross more dimension. So, to start, I snapped the cross off of the candle holder. Mine snapped right off, but be careful, cuz I don't want anyone getting cut up!!! Then all I did was pick some card stock for the background. And of COURSE I picked red!!!!!!! Black frame, black and white cross...you knew where this was heading...

After I got the background in, I simply hot glued the cross to the OUTSIDE of the glass of the frame, and then I took some black ribbon and made a little bow for the bottom. I absolutely love it. The cross has 3 scriptures on it, Isaiah 40:31, Psalm 31:24, and Hebrews 10:23. All 3 are very encouraging and inspiring. I think I'll be hanging this above my coffee pot so it'll be the first thing I see in the morning :)

  2. I couldn't wait to see the craft for today and I was soooo surprised! It's such a small world these days..."Hope" is my friend's theme word this year also as she is going through a difficult time with an adult son. I made a hope plaque for her and shared it on my first few blog posts! If you have a minute drop by and take a peek: http://keeninspirations.blogspot.com/2010/03/lamp-makeover-and-hope-for-friend.html
Yours is beautiful! Love the red background. I would never have thought of using the candle that way. You are very creative!
I am going to $Tree this morning, I'll have to pick up a couple of those frames if they have any!

  4. Wow, that is so pretty. I never would have thought to take the cross off the candleholder:) Most of my crafts are for my garden and I use a lot of stuff from the Dollar Tree too.

  7. How pretty- good luck with your fertility issues. I had those also and did IVF twice- I got two kids out of it. And although it was stressful, painful and emotionally draining I would do it again in a heartbeat. The two munckins are so worth it.
