So, remember this spring when I made the cutest jelly bean wreath EVER?!?!?!?
I was scooped! UGH. Not to dismay though folks, I am determined to make a wreath with some sort of candy on it!!!!!!!!!! And thanks to the grand re-opening of magic craft land (dollar tree), I am prepared to create a masterpiece!!!!!!!!
I started with this random assortment of junk...
1 foam wreath, 2 packs of "gripper pads", 2 packages of suckers. Scrap the ribbon...I didn't like how it looked, so I spray painted the wreath black instead :)
Ok, so after you spray paint your wreath, you'll take your gripper pad and fold it in half. run some craft wire through and twist
Continue to do that until you get the "ruffly" look you want...and make sure you have enough wire left over to twist your "flowers" onto the wreath:
Then apply your gripper pads to your wreath (I used all 8):
Lookin' good right?!??!! But needs some embellishment. That's where the suckers come in. Pull those cute confections off their sticks and apply with hot glue and MAGICCCCCCC:
So maybe its not AS cute as the candy corn version, but I am still in LURVE with it!!!!!!
I think your wreathe is AWESOME and as someone with kids to decorate for I think it's waaayyy cuter !!
ReplyDeleteAdorable!! I love it! It makes me want to eat the candy! I really like the ruffle effect too! Great job!
ReplyDeleteoh I think that is awesome!
ReplyDeleteHey! Don't you know that magazine just copied your great idea!!! I am NOT a candy corn fan (I think I'm the only one in the world who isn't - I'm actually afraid of it for some reason, must've been a bad childhood experience I've suppressed...). Anyway, I truly like you newest wreath creation BETTER!!! And, I love to use that grippy material, too! TFS!
ReplyDeleteOh I don't know what I would do with out DT!! So glad yours opened back up! Your wreath is awesome!
ReplyDeleteIt is very cute. Your candy corn idea was great but this is just as fun.
ReplyDeleteI love your wreath. How can you craft with candy and not eat it?
ReplyDeleteSo cute and fun! I may have to make a trip to the dollar store! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteNikki, this is really cute, and I hear ya about the candy corn, oh well you still should have done it anyway, bu this one is cute too. Would you like to link up to my **6 weeks 2 Spook** party, this would be great. Bella :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a bummer about the magazine, though in all honesty they probably saw your amazing wreath and stole the idea from you. :)
ReplyDeleteI love the wreath you came up with! I think it's better than the candy corn one, what a creative way to use gripper pads. You are so creative and it looks amazing!

See how much everyone loves is when you blog? and doesn't it make you feel good to get all the compliments? Please at least blog everyday! everyone misses you ;0) love you mom
ReplyDeletehey you could post the new cooktop from the rummage sale! hello
ReplyDeleteDon't ya just hate that?!?!? I've been "scooped" a few times myself, by other bloggers, not a national magazine! lol
ReplyDeleteI just read your Mom's comments to you (Hi Nikki's Mom! How's your garden?) and I think we should BOTH be blogging regularly! It IS good for us! Why is it that when we get busy, the first thing we Mom's do is let our activities go?
We should try to keep a balance (I'm so talking to myself here) so that we can do a little of what is good for ourselves too! Ultimately it benefits our families when we are happy and healthy too!
Missed you!
Sharon
Love the way your wreath turned out. Who knows, maybe they saw your jellybean wreath and were inspired to do a candy corn one. ;)
ReplyDeleteTotal Halloween cuteness! It looks simple enough that even I might be able to pull it off. Great job!
ReplyDeleteI think your wreath topped theirs completely!
ReplyDeleteI just love it! What a cool idea using the gripper pads. The candy you used was way cuter than candy corn & I am sure it saved you a lot of time. Kudos.
